Waller Receives Statewide Recognition for Excellence in Nonprofit Management

COLUMBIA, SC - Francis Marion University and the South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations (SCANPO) has awarded Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands' Executive Director, Ginny Waller, with the 2013 Award for Nonprofit Leadership. The award recognizes a graduate of Francis Marion University's Non-Profit Leadership Institute or a member of SCANPO who has excelled in the management of their organization through organizational and resource development.

Nancy Barton, Executive Director of Sistercare, the Midland's domestic violence agency, nominated Ms. Waller, stating "Ginny Waller is most deserving of the 2013 FMU NPLI/SCANPO Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Leadership award as her management and leadership skills have made a significant difference in the lives of sexual violence survivors and the state's response to sexual violence." Since 2008, Ms. Waller has increased community awareness of the agency and its mission, stabilized and  empowered staff, increased the percentage of individual giving, and successfully managed numerous opportunities, including the addition of a new service area and temporary relocation of the main office.

Cecilia Meggs, Executive Director of Lighthouse Ministries and the 2012 Recipient, presented the award to Ms. Waller at the 2013 Nonprofit Summit in Greenville last week.
