STSM Celebrates 30 Years of Hope and Healing

COLUMBIA, SC – Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM) celebrates 30 years of providing hope and healing on November 12, 2013.

After years of dedicated focus, STSM’s founding mothers received the charter to launch Rape Crisis Network in 1983. In 2000 Rape Crisis Network changed its name to Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands to better reflect the comprehensive services offered to all populations impacted by sexual violence.

The Founding Mothers and the 30 for 30 Host Committee are excited to welcome people to celebrate 30 Years of Hope and Healing in the Midlands at 701 Whaley on 11/12/13 at 7:00pm. Early bird tickets are $50 or two for $90 and available on www.stsm.orguntil November 1. After November 1 the ticket price will increase to $60.

“We are excited to celebrate how far our community has come in supporting comprehensive, free services for survivors of sexual trauma and look forward to a day when our community is free from sexual violence,” says Executive Director Ginny Waller. “This event will highlight our alternative healing modalities inviting our guests to experience some of the work we practice every day. We will have fun stations that highlight play therapy, art therapy, mindfulness, and everyone’s favorite therapists – our pet therapy dogs.”

STSM is located at 3830 Forest Drive in Suite 201 and is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. STSM provides crisis intervention, personal and legal advocacy and counseling to survivors as well as prevention education to local middle and high school students. The office number is 803-790-8208. The 24-hour hotline is 803-771-7273. All services are free and confidential.
