24-Hour Hotline

Pathways to Healing provides a 24-hour crisis hotline so that survivors can have support and resources from trained advocates. The hotline can be reached by calling (803) 771-7273.

Some reasons people call the hotline include:

  • You know that something happened but aren’t sure what to do.
  • You are having trouble sleeping or are scared after an assault.
  • You are trying to help someone who has been assaulted and don’t know what to say.
  • You remember something that happened a long time ago and aren’t sure what to do.
  • You want to start counseling services and need more information.

24-Hour Hospital Accompaniment

Every survivor of sexual violence has the right to have medical treatment for an assault, and seeking medical care is important. This is a way survivors can regain control over their life, receive treatment for injuries, and may prevent other health issues.

Survivors who can get to an emergency room within 120 hours of their assault will receive the following services:

  • A trained advocate from Pathways to Healing will be called by the hospital to provide support, information, and resources.
  • An exam will be completed by a specially-trained nurse; you can say no to any part of the exam at any time.
  • If the survivor wants to report the assault to law enforcement, you may do so at the hospital, but do not need to in order to have an exam and medical treatment (except minors).
  • The State Office of Victim Assistance pays for the cost of the exam, whether or not you choose to report the assault to law enforcement.

If more than 120 hours have passed since the assault, please call our 24-hour hotline at (803) 771-7273. We can give information about other medical treatment options and connect you to other services offered by Pathways to Healing.
