Therapy Dog Teams

Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that serves as the rape crisis center for Lexington, Richland, Sumter, Newberry, and Clarendon Counties. Our mission is to advocate for and support survivors of sexual assault and abuse and to educate the community to identify and prevent sexual violence. All of our direct services are confidential and are provided at no cost to survivors. As a part of our therapy services, we incorporate animal-assisted therapy (AAT) in our work with clients. We are looking for additional volunteer therapy dogs teams!



What We Need

  • 2-3 therapy dog teams with handlers to be present during the one hour client sessions
  • Available during the day (appointments are scheduled around handler's availability)


  • Dogs must be trained and certified
  • Up to date shot record
  • Have personal liability insurance
  • Work well in an office setting with clients
  • Ability to comply with agency's policies and procedures
