I work at a school and would like to know about the free services provided for classroom education.

One of STSM’s core initiatives is community education. Since 1997, STSM’s Education Program has been collaborating with schools, churches, government and nonprofit agencies, businesses, and other entities to provide training and workshops across the state of South Carolina. All education programs are free of charge to organizations and schools with the goal of ending sexual violence by educating our community.

STSM offers many unique education programs tailored towards elementary, middle school, high school, and adult organizations.

The STSM staff members who teach in the community are highly trained and specialize in topics related to sexual assault, domestic violence, and violence prevention.

One of the most popular programs we offer is our Youth Violence Prevention Program (YVPP) for middle and high school students. YVPP has 6 interactive lessons and is typically taught over the course of a few weeks.

  • Lesson 1: The Effect of Gender Sterotypes & Media Influence on Violence in Relationships
  • Lesson 2: Appropriate Boundary Setting & Online Victimization & Protection Strategies
  • Lesson 3: Effective Communication Strategies
  • Lesson 4: Healthy Relationships and Prevention of Teen Dating Violence
  • Lesson 5: Prevention of Sexual Harassment & Stalking (High School) or Prevention of Sexual Harassment & Bullying (Middle School)
  • Lesson 6: Prevention of Sexual Assault, SC Laws and Substance Facilitated Sexual Assault (Substance Facilitated Sexual Assault for High School students only)
