Walk a Mile In Their Shoes

Join people from across the Midlands who will be standing up against sexual assault and abuse, one pair of heels at a time, on Wednesday, April 15. Hosted by Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM), the 6th annual Walk a Mile in Their Shoes event takes place from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Richland Fashion Mall, 3400 Forest Drive (the walk begins at 6:30 p.m.). *PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN LOCATION DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER.

Men, women and children of all ages are invited to participate individually or in teams. Registration is only $5 for children 12 and under. Men should come prepared with footwear - CLICK HERE for tips on where to find women's shoes that fit or how to decorate your own shoes.
 
A few reminders:

  • On-site registration and check-in begins at 5:30 p.m. Enter on the first floor (not at Belk) to check in.
  • Park on the 1st or 2nd level of the mall.
  • The festivities will be in the food court in the center of the mall.
  • The walk will begin at 6:30 p.m. and process through the parking garage. There will be a glow stick station, streamers, balloons, and cheering sections throughout our walk!
  • Dogs are not allowed on the mall premises. 

Walk a Mile gets the community involved in the fight against sexual violence. The event also raises awareness about the no-cost, local services STSM provides for survivors of sexual assault and abuse. It is one of several events held throughout April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).

Registration is now closed. Registration on site is $30 and starts at 5:30 pm.
