Call To Action: Contact your legislators and tell them to OVERRIDE veto 51

As many of you have heard, Gov. Haley decided to slash funding for sexual assault services and prevention. The governor's veto 51 eliminates $453,000 in the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) budget for sexual assault/rape crisis centers across the state, including Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands.

These funds help us provide critical services to adult and child victims of sexual assault, as well as prevention education to reduce sexual violence in our state.

Please contact your state legislators and ask them to OVERRIDE VETO 51. If this veto is not overridden, direct services and prevention programming will be cut. Other agencies may have to shut their doors, leaving some South Carolina counties without these vital services.

Again, please contact your state senator and representative and ask them to OVERRIDE VETO 51. You can find your legislators and their contact information here:
