Many community members first learn about our Advocate role, which is a great fit for those who are interested in working directly with survivors of sexual assault and maintaining a flexible schedule. Those who are interested in a direct service role and currently have or are pursuing a masters degree in counseling, social work, or a related field can volunteer as a Group Facilitatorgaining direct client contact through facilitating psychoeducational and support groups.

Of course, working directly with survivors isn't for everyone. Those who are interested in helping to end sexual violence in a different way can be involved in educating the community to identify and prevent sexual assualt Speaker's Bureau volunteer, or work closely with staff to help them complete administrative tasks and host special events as an Office Volunteer!
Many volunteers are involved through several roles, particularly those who have a certain number of hours to complete as part of a Internship or Service Learning program. This is an option that our Volunteer Services Coordinator can discuss with you to find the best fit for you.
As an agency that was created by a group of concerned community members and has been supported by a strong volunteer program for the past 31 years, Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands is committed to the well being of our volunteers. We're honored by the time and dedication that our volunteers commit to helping us acheive our mission, and are happy to know that our volunteers show a high level of satisfaction with their volunteer experience. Results from 2013 volunteer satisfaction surveys are below!
