Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Facilitator

Purpose: To train adults to recognize, prevent, and react responsibly to situations of child sexual abuse by facilitating the Stewards of Children program to community and civic organizations on behalf of Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM).

Major Responsibilities:

  • On behalf of STSM, attend and fully participate in a facilitator training for the Darkness to Light Stewards of Children program in whatever location STSM deems appropriate (STSM will pay for training).
  • Facilitate at least four Stewards of Children trainings every year to community groups, churches, and other organizations as scheduled by STSM.
  • Keep accurate records and documentation of presentations and report timely to STSM staff about trainings conducted.

Qualifications:

  • Tolerant and non-judgmental of others’ lifestyles and values.
  • Confident communicator and presenter.
  • Able to attend and complete Stewards of Children training program.
  • Experience working in the field of child advocacy, child sexual abuse, public health, or social work a plus.
  • Reliable, dependable, and available during required times.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Commitment:

  • Support the philosophies of Sexual STSM and represent our agency and our cause with integrity.
  • Regard all information about survivors as completely confidential.
  • Successfully complete Stewards of Children training.
  • Attend at least one volunteer in-service training per year.
  • Schedule with STSM Education staff at least four presentations per year.
  • Remain with STSM as a Stewards of Children program volunteer for at least one year. (If a contracted volunteer does not remain with the agency for at least a year and sign up for the allotted presentations, he/she may be responsible for reimbursing the agency for the costs of facilitator training and any other expenses incurred.)
