Board Member of the Quarter — Kaye C. Jones
She has lived in the Columbia area since 1971 and is a 1978 graduate of Clemson University. Kaye has also served on the Board of Directors for Palmetto Place Children’s S h e l te r , t h e Fa mi ly , Individuals, and Children's Council of the United Way of the Midlands, and is a member of St. Andrews Woman’s Club. Kaye has been married to Tom Jones for 30 years and they have one daughter Katie. In her time not working or volunteering, Kaye enjoys reading, traveling, and cooking. “Kaye has not only
been a mentor to me and the other Board members, but is the premier example of selfless service to survivors of sexual violence. Her dedication, can-do attitude, and jovial personality will be missed when she rotates off the Board this July.” — Cheryl Bullard, Esq. Board President
In the Third Quarter, STSM staff and volunteers accompanied 83 primary survivors of sexual assault and abuse at the hospital.
Kaye joined the board in July 2004 and brings 29 years of business experience. Kaye served two terms as STSM Board President and is currently Ex Officio. She is a manager at Colonial Life where she has worked most of her career. Kaye is a South Carolinian by birth and a Clemson Tiger by choice!
STSM Volunteers Win Prestigious Awards
Karen Sundstrom and Anna Walton, STSM Volunteer Advocates, were recognized this past quarter for their contributions to ending sexual violence in the Midlands. The South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault awarded our long-term volunteer Karen Sundstrom the Citizen Advocate of the Year award for her exemplary service to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. SC Victim’s Assistance Network named Anna Walton the 2010 Volunteer of the Year for committing her time and talent to assisting crime victims. Karen and Anna, we are so proud to partner with you both!

Volunteer of the Quarter — Priscilla Y. Pee
Administrator for the Special Management Unit and the S.T.A.R. Treatment program. Priscilla is also a single parent of a 15-year old son who attends Dutch Fork High school and loves playing football. She also received her B.S. in Psychology from Francis Marion University and is pursuing a M.A. in Priscilla is one of the volunteers for Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands, where she facilitates Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training. She is a full time employee with the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice of 25 years. She currently holds the position of Management and Compliance Analyst and additional duties as the Unit in Forensic Psychology from Argosy University. Priscilla enjoys playing volleyball, softball, and working various puzzles. Priscilla has a passion for children and believes that every child should be allowed to grow up healthy and whole. She felt the need to answer the call for volunteers to facilitate child

sexual abuse training and did so willingly and graciously.
“Ever since Priscilla started working as a volunteer facilitator in August 2009, her enthusiasm and passion for this work has been evident. She consistently sign s u p to pr e sent workshops both during work hours and on nights and Sundays. When she is leading a Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training, Priscilla really connects with her audience. Her wealth of knowledge from years of working at DJJ and her inherent compassion makes her a fantastic training facilitator.”

Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands
Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM) is a private, nonprofit, United Way member agency that provides free services to survivors of sexual assault and their families, including 24-hour crisis hotline, hospital accompaniment, legal and personal advocacy, individual and group counseling, and community education in Richland, Lexington, and Newberry Counties. Join STSM to improve the quality of the lives of survivors, reduce the risk of sexual assault, and ultimately prevent sexual violence; thereby, making the Midlands a healthier, safer, and better place to live.
