Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands
The Healing Voice
STSM Vision: Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands helps survivors of sexual trauma heal. Ultimately, we will end sexual violence in our community. STSM Mission: Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands supports survivors in recovery from trauma associated with sexual assault and abuse and educates the community to identify and prevent sexual violence.

I am looking forward to returning from maternity leave on June 1, 2010. I would like to thank everyone for ensuring that the Group Services Program ran smoothly in my absence. I am so proud of all the facilitators and their accomplishments. For those who are moving on in their education and careers we will miss you however we wish you much success in your future endeavors.

Facilitator Spotlight
Sharon Moody is a military spouse and mother of two. She currently resides in Irmo, SC with her family. She lives by John Newman’s famous quote that “growth is the only evidence of life” and her firm conviction is that to grow in all aspects of life is the true essence of living and to be stagnant in life is to exist in a dead state. She currently holds five degrees to include a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Martin’s University in Lacy, Washington and a Masters of Arts from Webster University in Counseling. She served ten years in the Air Force Reserve and was honorably discharged in 2001. She was employed for over ten years in Corrections and Law Enforcement before deciding to dedicate her life and time to helping adults, families and children who suffer from substance abuse, sexual trauma, PTSD, ADHD, and a host of other mental health and adjustment issues. Sharon’s previous experience includes working at the Charleston Center in Charleston, SC as a Clinical Counselor where she operated a 24-hour crisis hotline for people seeking assistance with alcohol and drug problems. Some of her duties included conducting intakes, detoxification admissions and providing crisis counseling. She completed her graduate internship at the Developmental Specialty Clinics formerly William S. Hall Child and Adolescent Outpatient clinic where she worked with children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and young children who suffer from severe emotional and behavioral problems. Sharon’s professional affiliations include memberships with the American Counseling Association, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapist and the International Marriage and Family Therapy Association. Sharon is currently pursuing licensures as a Marriage and Family therapist and Professional Counselor. She will also attend Argosy University Atlanta campus this fall pursuing a Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in child and Family.
