Expect
Respect Expect Respect is a support group curriculum. The goal of the program is to help children achieve safe and healthy relationships at school and at home. Expect Respect counselors work with children individually and in groups. They use a variety of techniques including expressive arts and group activities to help children communicate their feelings, work through problems, increase personal safety, and build friendship skills. All services are provided on campus during the school day and are free of charge. Through educational support groups we aim to teach group members that a healthy relationship is based on equality and mutual respect and that an abusive relationship is characterized by an imbalance of power that is maintained through intimidation, coercion and violence. This curriculum was developed by Barri Rosenbluth, LMSW-ACP, and Director of School-based Services with SafePlace in Austin, Texas.
